If you are like me, not restarting Steam after the game loads may have resulted in the loss of some of your initial achievements. There are so many people out there desperately looking for these achievements without any luck. With the following little trick you can now get your achievements restored, without having to lose your saved game.
How To Get Achievements Back When Playing on Steam Cloud in Rise of the Tomb Raider
The first thing that you need to do is go into the Steam folder and locate the ‘User Data’ folder. Once there, you have to find the folder labeled ‘391220’. This folder belongs to Rise of the Tomb Raider. You should then rename this folder into something similar, such as ‘391220backup’. After doing so you should promptly turn off the Steam Cloud. Then go back to Steam -> Settings –> Cloud and uncheck “Enable Steam Cloud…” Now you can restart Steam.
The next step is to restart the game, and then proceed with the gameplay until you get to the point where you build a new base camp in the Siberian forest. After going through these two steps you will have regained four achievements:
- Reading the past – Translate One Monolith (you get to the column that is situated at the center of the cave after you have climbed the first scene)
- Following in father’s footsteps – you will have just come through a dark tunnel filled with scorpions. This achievement is called ‘Enter the Syrian Tomb of the lost prophet.’
- Quite a tumble – this achievement is called Survive the Avalanche; as the name indicates you will have gone through an avalanche and survived it all.
- Tougher than she looks – when you finally reached the forest and build your base camp, you will get this achievement, which proves that you were able to survive a night in the Siberian wilderness.
One thing that you have to note is that you have to get all the achievements in the order that they are listed in. If you miss one, you may have to start the whole process again.
Once you get all the achievements listed above, exit from the game and find the folder that you renamed. Once there you will find that the original folder, labeled ‘391220’ will have been recreated. You need to delete this folder and then rename the ‘391220backup’ folder to its original ‘391220.’ With these simple steps you will have regained all your achievements. Now go back and enable the ‘Steam Cloud’ settings and continue playing game from the point you had saved it at the start of this process.
The achievements listed above are usually the ones that you lose since they are the ones you gain when you start playing the game. For other achievements you will have had to play for more than 5 hours.
There you go. Hopefully, Steam will address this issue so players do not have to go through these steps. Now you can continue playing this wonderful and exciting game.
